K-pop stars are set to bring HUNTR/X and Saja Boys, groups from the hit animated film “KPop Demon Hunters,” to life at the 2025 MAMA Awards.
On its social media pages, the MAMA Awards announced Wednesday a special collaboration performance, in which idols from various groups will bring the characters from the Netflix feature to the stage.
They include Pharita, Ahyeon and Rora of girl group BABYMONSTER, who will take on the roles of HUNTR/X, the film’s central girl group that uses music to protect the world from demons.
Meanwhile, the Saja Boys — demons who disguise themselves as a boy band in the film — will be portrayed by Leehan of BOYNEXTDOOR, Wonbin of RIIZE, Shinyu of TWS, and Park Gunwook and Han Yujin of ZEROBASEONE.
The MAMA Awards will be held at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on November 28 and 29, with HBO Max streaming the event for Filipino viewers.
The two-day event will also feature performances by G-Dragon, Stray Kids, Super Junior, ENHYPEN, i-dle, Tomorrow X Together and aespa, among other K-pop acts, as well as Hong Kong supergroup Mirror and Japanese boy band JO1.
Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh will also reportedly appear as a presenter, alongside Arden Cho and Ahn Hyo-seop of “KPop Demon Hunters,” as well as actors Park Hyung-sik, Shin Ye-eun, Lee Kwang-soo, Yim Si-wan, Ju Ji-hoon and many others.
Launched in 1999, the MAMA Awards, formerly the Mnet Asian Music Awards, is one of the major year-end award ceremonies in the K-pop industry, presented by entertainment giant CJ ENM.
Meanwhile, “KPop Demon Hunters” has enjoyed strong success since its June debut, eventually becoming the most-watched film on Netflix.
